The BHI-15 platform has proven itself to be the pinnacle of practical, tactical and accurized AR performance and design in real-world applications. When we asked how to assist the platform to maximize its long-range accuracy potential, the answer was simple...increase the barrel length and enhance the human factor.
First, we searched for an AR-compatible stock that included the key ingredients of top-of-the-line sniper rifle stocks. We found what we were looking for in the Magpul PRS (Precision Rifle/Sniper) stock, with its adjustability in both cheek riser height and length-of-pull. Additional ergonomic benefits for long-range shooting include a rubber butt-pad, easy-grip adjustment knobs and a robust butt stock hook for non-shooting hand support.
The next shooter contact point to address was the grip. The ideal solution came from the DPMS Panther Tactical Grip, boasting an aggressive textured polymer-injected body and adjustable palm grip which ideally positions the shooter’s hand for a more direct trigger pull, and support to reduce fatigue when waiting for the shot.
Fire control comes via a Geissele Super Dynamic Combat trigger. Also included are Wolff springs and BHI’s exclusive hard-chromed bolt carrier group for increased operational reliability. The BHI-15 SPR2 comes with BHI’s Titanium (TiNi-coated) firing pin, which is not only more durable and corrosion-resistant than conventional steel pins, it’s 40-percent lighter than steel. This lighter weight allows the pin to travel faster, thereby reducing lock time and minimizing the opportunity for shot disturbance. A standard PRI Gasbuster charging handle diverts gasses away from the shooter.
Another exclusive component is the revised BHI Rifle Length Hand Guard system. This aggressive, free-floating hand guard offers many benefits. First, the free-float construction ensures maximum heat dissipation. Second, since nothing touches the barrel, the barrel cannot be torqued by a sling or when shooting from a tripod. Third, the hand guard features multiple Picatinny rail slots, allowing the operator to add only the accessory rails needed for specific mission requirements. This keeps the weight down and delivers the most streamlined, user-friendly hand guard system available. Fourth, the aggressive GatorGrip texturing guarantees a positive, no-slip grip for maximum weapon retention and muzzle control. Additional features include front and rear ambidextrous Quick-Detach sling swivel mounting holes and co-witnessed top accessory rail mounting (rail optional).
Finally, the already high-accuracy package is further fine-tuned with the inclusion of a 20-inch chrome-lined barrel and rifle-length gas system versus the 16-inch/mid-length system found elsewhere in the BHI-15 lineup. BHI-15 SPR owners can complete their weapon system by purchasing the optional BHI-15 SPR2 Semi-Auto Rifle Kit or the BHI-15 SPR Executive Package.
